Alkyl Halides

Alkyl halides, or haloalkanes, are compounds in which one or more hydrogen atoms of an alkane are replaced by fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine. Many are dense, volatile, water-immiscible liquids valued as extraction solvents and reaction media, particularly the chlorinated members.
